"The Least Ancient Greek Poet": U-M Modern Greek Program.

Oxford University classics praelector Tim Whitmarsh discusses the fictitious 4th-century BC Greek poet Ananios of Kleitor, who (along with the surviving fragments of his poetry) is the creation of the renowned poet, critic, and medievalist George Economou, author of the recent Poems and Fragments of Ananios of Kleitor and Their Reception from Antiquity to the Present, a book Whitmarsh calls "a kind of ancient-world equivalent of Nabokov's Pale Fire."
